Industrial
Relations and Labour Legislation basically deals with the relationship between
employers and employees to maintain harmony at the workplace. Some major issues
discussed include collective bargaining, trade unions, and conflict resolution.
Labour Legislation refers to such laws that deal with legislating working
conditions, wages, job security, and workers' rights. Collectively, they ensure
fair treatment of the employees, the establishment of peaceful industrial
relations, and the balancing of worker interests with those of the employers.
Course outcomes goes here :
a) Recall the growth of labour law in India and understand the role of the ILO in shaping labour regulations.
b) Apply the provisions of the Factories Act to ensure worker health, safety, and welfare, while analyzing regulations on working hours and employment of young persons.
c) Understand and evaluate the key aspects of social security laws, such as provident funds, gratuity, maternity benefits, and their impact on employee welfare.
d) Analyze wage regulations under the Payment of Wages Act, and apply these guidelines to resolve wage-related disputes.
e) Evaluate the Industrial Disputes Act's role in managing strikes and retrenchment, and apply the Trade Unions and Child Labour Acts to ensure compliance in industrial relations.
